New to Australia! It feels great to give a gift that gives back, and the beautiful handmade Prosperity bracelets from Same Sky certainly fit the bill. Made by hand by HIV + women artisans in Zambia, Same Sky's proceeds from the bracelets go directly back to helping train more women to become part of the program so that they can earn a fair wage, learn marketable skills and support their families. Wearing these Fairtrade Same Sky bracelets therefore supports the empowerment of women through sustainable employment and furthers the ethical shopping movement - so you can look good and feel good at the same time! Prosperity bracelets are crocheted by the women of the Abataka Collective in Lusaka, Zambia. These amazing stackable jewels are made of glass 'seed' style beads that are crocheted onto complimentary coloured semi-stretchy cord. Sold as one size fits all, the bracelets are approximately 1.25cm (1/2 ") thick and 20cm (8") in diameter, best fitting wrist sizes around 17.5 – 21.5cm in diameter. They roll over the hand for easy wear and look even more fun & unique when stacked with multiple Prosperity bracelets together. Each bracelet comes with a card explaining the meaning behind them, and a cute, brightly coloured fabric pouch. These beautiful and unique handmade bracelets are both meaningful and fashionable. They make the perfect Fairtrade gift for any woman in your life - or a special treat for yourself! The glass bead Prosperity bracelets are a perfect unique gift for women of all ages - buy them as gifts for Mother's Day, as Christmas gifts, or as lovely thank you gifts to appreciate someone's time or effort. We also love that Same Sky is a trade-not-aid initiative. Same Sky provides employment opportunities in Rwanda and Zambia to women struggling to lift themselves out of poverty. Instead of a hand-out, they give these women a hand up and the chance to rebuild their lives. Money is independence, and independence in turn helps to offer dignity and choice. The Same Sky founders listened to the women in these countries, and their overwhelming cry was – we want the opportunity to work! Same Sky invested in these women’s future and we invite you to join us in supporting them also. The sale of Same Sky bracelets directly supports these women working in artisan cooperatives in Rwanda and Zambi. These women artisans are able to earn substantially more than the average wage of most women in sub-Saharan Africa. Working in these cooperatives, the women find a forum where they can openly discuss and begin to tackle the social concerns of their communities such as poverty, family planning, HIV/AIDS, and violence against women. For these women, joining a cooperative can be the first step toward, not only, financial stability but rehabilitation, and hope for the future.FEATURES:
